Schlip — The Namibian Police Force (NamPol) in the Hardap Region is investigating a murder case following the fatal stabbing of a 52-year-old man at Farm Mooi Rivier on Friday.
According to Namibia Press Agency, the weekend crime report identified the deceased as Wilfred Elmer Izaks. The incident occurred between 14:00 and 15:00 on Friday after an argument between the victim and a male suspect. Eyewitnesses reported that the suspect stabbed Izaks on the right side of his chest and chin with a knife, leading to his death on the spot. The suspect fled the scene with the murder weapon, and police have yet to make an arrest.
In a separate incident in Windhoek, NamPol is investigating a case of culpable homicide and reckless driving after a 34-year-old man, identified as Jacques Roberto Kurz, died when the vehicle he was traveling in crashed into a tree early Saturday morning. The incident took place at around 01:33 on Mandume Ndemufayo road. According to the report, Kurz was a passenger in the vehicle, and the accident occurred when he pulled the handbrake, causing the driver to lose control of the vehicle. The driver, who sustained minor injuries, was the girlfriend of the deceased.
Meanwhile, in Otjozondjupa Region at Okondjatu, a 32-year-old Angolan national, Tuhafeni Shindele, was found dead by suicide on Saturday morning. His body was discovered hanging from a tree at the settlement, and no suicide note was found.
Additionally, two other suicide cases were reported in the Oshikoto Region. At King Kauluma village, 50-year-old Paulus Phillipus Hamatundu was found hanging in his sleeping room. Hamatundu, who was reportedly a psychiatric patient, showed no previous signs of distress, according to the crime report. In another incident at Okavugu village, 36-year-old Leopald Shidhika also died by suicide, with his body found hanging in his sleeping room. No suicide notes were left behind in either case.
The next of kin of the deceased have been informed, and investigations into these cases are ongoing.
