Ouagadougou: The 38th class of the National Police School, known as the 2007-2009 class, marked its 15 years of service by offering food and financial aid to the families of their colleagues who lost their lives defending the nation. This commemoration took place on Saturday in Ouagadougou, highlighting the class's dedication to solidarity and remembrance. According to Burkina Information Agency, the class, which is composed of municipal police officers, prison security guards, and national police officers, initially named "Integrity," used the occasion to assist the families of 24 fallen members. Each family received a bag of rice, 10 liters of oil, a packet of spaghetti, a carton of soap, and 75,000 CFA francs as part of this charitable gesture. Police Divisional Commissioner Abdoulaye Bélem, who presides over the organizing committee, emphasized the need for the class to pause and reflect on their 15 years of service. The theme of the celebration, "15 years of service of the 2007-2009 promotion, what con tribution for more solidarity in a context of terrorism?" underscored the importance of unity within the police force, especially in challenging times. Retired Colonel Dr. Emile Ouédraogo, a former Minister of Security and sponsor of the ceremony, praised the class for their tribute to the defense and security forces. He reiterated the importance of solidarity, describing it as both an obligation and a duty for all. Nana/Benon Fatoumata Yatassaye, representing the Minister in charge of Security, Mahamadou Sana, commended the initiative, noting that the celebration successfully combined camaraderie with a sense of duty to the nation. The class collectively raised 500,000 CFA francs, which was handed over to the Technical Advisor to the Minister of Security to support ongoing peace efforts. In addition to providing material support, the organizing committee announced plans to host a panel discussion on publishing and conduct a blood donation drive, further demonstrating their commitment to community service and solidarity.
