Kabul: Thirty-six development and maintenance projects have been constructed and put into operation in the mountainous Ghor province in western Afghanistan, state-owned Bakhtar news agency reported Tuesday. The projects, which cost more than 2.3 million U.S. dollars, have been launched with financial support from domestic and partner organizations, the news agency quoted a local official as saying.

According to Namibia Press Agency, these projects have created job opportunities for about 1,000 local residents and improved living conditions for thousands of people in the province. The Afghan interim government has planned to launch more agriculture and infrastructure projects throughout the poverty-stricken country, focusing on alleviating economic hardships and creating job opportunities.
