2nd Congress of Ethiopia’s Prosperity Party Expected to Pass Crucial Decisions

Addis Ababa: The upcoming second congress of Ethiopia’s ruling Prosperity Party (PP) is expected to pass crucial decisions and strategic directions aimed at enhancing the party’s standing and the country’s development endeavors, according to Adem Farah, head of the Democracy System Building Coordination Center with the rank of Deputy Prime Minister and Vice President of the party.

According to Ethiopian News Agency, Africa’s largest political party, PP, will deliberate its second congress from January 31 to February 2, 2025, in Addis Ababa, the political and diplomatic capital of Africa. Adem told the media today that preparations for the congress are finalized. The Vice President announced that the congress will be held from January 31 to February 2, 2025, in Addis Ababa, at the Adwa Victory Memorial Museum.

He stated that the Prosperity Party, which has over 15.7 million members, achieved significant success through its commitment to inclusion, balance, and the incorporation of indigenous ideas. Revealing
that all preparations have been finalized to successfully conduct the congress, Adem indicated that over 1,700 participants will attend the congress, including senior, middle, and lower-level officials of the party as well as invited guests, representatives of communities, competing political parties, as well as 15 foreign sister political parties.

The Vice President of PP stated that the congress is expected to pass crucial decisions and strategic directions aimed at enhancing the party’s standing. Key decisions are also anticipated at the congress that would further strengthen government strategies and policies in order to ensure sustainable development, alleviate poverty, expand job opportunities, and promote economic growth that all aim at benefiting the nation at large.

Adem expressed confidence that the directions and decisions made during the congress would be significant in addressing challenges and transforming the socioeconomic and political development of the country. Emphasizing Prosperity Party
has been committed to fostering the overall development of the country, Adem underscored that the Party has registered remarkable progress in various sectors such as the economy, tourism, diplomacy among others, and the party is moving forward to position Ethiopia as a model of prosperity in Africa, with a focus on effective outcomes.

In addition to economic aspects of progress over the last five years, the party has been addressing improvements in educational quality and advancing successful initiatives in health and other sectors, further underscoring the party’s dedication to national development and building the image of the nation on the international stage. Adem stressed that Prosperity Party remains focused on its vision of creating a more prosperous Ethiopia through collaborative efforts and strategic planning.
