28 Teams Competing in 5th Maracana Nazareth Tournament

Kadiogo: 28 teams will take part in the 5th edition of the Maracana Nazareth tournament, which is scheduled to launch on July 5 at the grounds of the Wend Konta private high school, in Bonheur-Ville, in the 9th district of Ouagadougou.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the information was given on Sunday during a press conference that brought together the competition promoter, representatives of the participating teams, and journalists. At this event, a draw was held to divide the 28 teams into seven groups of four teams each.

Placed under the theme "Youth, peace and living together: maracana as a link", this 5th edition will take place from July to November. In addition to the maracana matches, the organizers are planning a women's cycling race, a p©tanque competition, cultural entertainment, and civic awareness activities.

According to the tournament promoter, Ouessono Rodrigue Avanwo, the five best teams will be rewarded. "The winner will take home the trophy, 150,000 FCFA, a set of jerseys, two balls, and medals. The second-place team will receive 100,000 FCFA, a set of jerseys, a ball, and medals. The third-place team will receive 75,000 FCFA and a ball. The fourth and fifth-place teams will receive 30,000 FCFA and 20,000 FCFA respectively, along with a ball," he stated.

Mr. Avanwo added that special prizes will also be awarded. The top three finishers in the women's cycling race and the top three teams in the p©tanque competition will also receive prizes. The opening match is scheduled for July 5th at the Wend Konta private high school in Bonheur Ville. The Maracana Nazareth tournament is a sporting competition organized during the holidays. It aims to promote community spirit, brotherhood, and peace through sport, while encouraging physical activity and helping to identify young talent.
