Based on a crime report provided on Wednesday by the Deputy Commissioner of the Namibian Police Force, Wynand Neels, the two men were engaged in a physical dispute at the shebeen located in the Omuthiya town area. As the altercation escalated, the younger man assaulted the 26-year-old with his fists before inflicting a fatal stab wound to his chest using a knife. The man succumbed to his injuries on the scene.
Neels further stated, “The body of the deceased has been transported to the Omuthiya police mortuary where a post-mortem examination will be conducted. The immediate family of the deceased has not been notified as of now.”
In an unrelated incident occurring on the same day, a one-month-old infant girl tragically lost her life. The infant and her mother were en route from Onankali village to Elavi village, intending to visit the baby’s father. Upon exiting their mode of transportation, the mother observed blood emanating from the baby’s nose. The infant’s condition rapidly deteriorated, leading to her untimely death.
The baby’s remains were subsequently transported to the Tsumeb State Hospital mortuary, where a post-mortem will be carried out.
