Saudi Arabia: King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals (KFUPM) in Dhahran will host the 25th edition of the Asian Physics Olympiad (APhO 2025) from May 4 to 12, 2025, with the participation of 240 students from 30 countries and more than 100 international experts.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the event is organized by the Ministry of Education, the Mawhiba Foundation, and KFUPM, with the main support of Saudi Aramco, under the theme "Together, we generate the energy of the future." The opening ceremony featured cultural performances and official speeches, attended by senior educational and scientific officials, including APhO President Dr. Kwek Leong Chuan, who welcomed the event as the first time it has been held in the Middle East.
Two main tests, theoretical and experimental, are planned for students, in addition to cultural and educational activities. The event also marks the 25th anniversary of the creation of the Olympiad. Saudi Arabia has participated in the APhO since 2012 and has won 16 medals to date, contributing to its 874 awards in various international competitions.
