Ouagadougou: The Governor of the Bankui region, Babo Pierre Bassinga, launched the training of supervisors and facilitators for the Mandatory Patriotic Immersion (IPO) program this Tuesday, July 21, 2026, in D©dougou. Scheduled to last three days, this session aims to strengthen the skills of 241 supervisors who will support 4,152 new high school graduates at the region's 11 immersion sites, starting July 27, 2026.
According to Burkina Information Agency, organized simultaneously in the other provincial capitals of the Bankui and Sourou regions, this training constitutes the last preparatory step before the start of the second edition of the mandatory patriotic immersion. It follows the national training session for trainers, held from July 14 to 16, 2026 in Ouagadougou, during which about sixty managers from the region were trained on the educational content and the implementation methods of the initiative.
The regional director of secondary education, vocational and technical training in Bankui and Sourou, Raoul Sanon, welcomed the mobilization of the actors and stressed that this session will allow the 241 supervisors, facilitators and personnel of the Defense and Security Forces to receive the knowledge acquired during the national training in Ouagadougou. He specified that 64 participants are taking part in the session in D©dougou and said he was convinced that the lessons learned from the 2025 edition will contribute to strengthening the organization and quality of the mandatory patriotic immersion.
The governor of the Bankui region, Babo Pierre Bassinga, urged the trainers to ensure a faithful restitution of the achievements of the national session while believing that the quality of this training will determine the success of the second edition of the mandatory patriotic immersion. Drawing lessons from the 2025 edition, he indicated that the organizational structure and educational content have been strengthened in order to offer more effective training.
The governor invited the supervisors to transmit to the conscripts, with professionalism and exemplary conduct, the values of discipline, civic-mindedness, patriotism and integrity, in line with the vision of the highest authorities to train a responsible and committed youth in the service of the Nation. Secondary school inspector and trainer, Hilaire Sanon, indicated that the program includes twelve modules divided between the civilian and military components. Civic education focuses in particular on the African awakening, the resistance struggles of African peoples, the movements for the renaissance of the continent, as well as the foundations of patriotism and sovereignty.
The modules provided by the Defense and Security Forces (FDS) mainly concern close order, discipline and basic notions of military training. In the Bankui and Sourou regions, 4,152 new high school graduates will carry out their mandatory patriotic immersion at eleven sites, including four in D©dougou, three in Boromo and one each in Nouna, Solenzo, Toma and Tougan. Scheduled from July 27 to August 26, 2026, this second edition aims to consolidate civic, patriotic and citizen values among young people admitted to the baccalaureate.
