OTJIWARONGO: A tragic incident unfolded in Okahandja on Saturday morning, where a 23-year-old man lost his life after allegedly being stabbed during a dispute.
According to a news release by NAMPA, Inspector Maureen Mbeha, the head of community affairs in the Otjozondjupa Region, confirmed the details in an interview with Nampa on Saturday. The deceased has been identified by close relatives as Stanley Tjitavi Kamutua.
Kamutua was a resident of the Vergenoeg location in Nau-Aib township in Okahandja. According to Inspector Mbeha, he was stabbed once in the chest with a sharp object during the early hours of Saturday, between 04:00 and 07:00. Kamutua died instantly upon being stabbed.
“The reason for the quarrel between the two individuals is still not known to us,” said Inspector Mbeha.
A 26-year-old male suspect was taken into custody on the same Saturday and is expected to make an appearance in the Okahandja Magistrate’s Court on Monday morning.
