20th National Citizenship Week in Burkina Faso’s Passoré Province Focuses on National Symbols

Yako—The 20th edition of the National Citizenship Week (SENAC) in Burkina Faso commenced on Monday at the High Commission of Passoré under the oversight of the Secretary General of the Province (SGP), Noélie Béréhoumdoudou/Kaboré.

According to a new release by the Burkina Information Agency, the event saw significant mobilization from the military, paramilitary, VDP, and representatives of the Passoré bodies early Friday morning. They gathered in front of the High Commission of the province to express their allegiance to the symbols of Burkina Faso.

During the ceremony, Noélie Béréhoumdoudou/Kaboré, the representative of the High Commissioner of Passoré, highlighted the significance of the national emblem. She stated that the flag represents the existence, sovereignty, and resilience of the Burkinabe people. Respect for these symbols, she explained, reaffirms the existence of Burkina Faso and demonstrates commitment to its sovereignty and to Burkinabe social values.

The SENAC agenda in Passoré, as well as in other localities across the nation, involves various activities aimed at raising awareness and facilitating discussions on civic responsibilities. According to Béréhoumdoudou, these activities include civics competitions for post-primary students across the country’s 13 regions, public conferences on civics and citizenship, and a national day devoted to health and citizen actions.

Expressing satisfaction with the participation levels, the SGP encouraged all bodies in Passoré to contribute to the success of the week-long celebration. She called for full involvement in all planned activities.

The national SENAC, which runs from October 23 to 27, operates under the theme “Citizenship in action for the reconquest of the integrity of the national territory.”
