Ouagadougou: The Burkina Faso Stallions, who will face the Djibouti Red Sea Sharks tomorrow, Friday, in Morocco in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, are confident 24 hours before the match kicks off.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the Stallions are eager to recover their position in the Group A standings, as the team prepares for the upcoming matches against Djibouti and Guinea Bissau. "We're third in our group. We've fallen a little behind. Now we want to make a clean sweep of these two matches, that is, get all six points. It starts with Friday's match. We'll go for the three points before preparing for the second match," stated Stallions captain Bertrand Traor©.
The head coach, Brama Traor©, who initiated a training camp on March 17 in the Cherifian Kingdom for these matches, expressed readiness. "We are ready for the match. We have worked a lot on defensive organization, transitions, and ball clearances," he noted, adding that "the atmosphere is good. The players are in good shape. I am satisfied because they have a good state of mind. They are physically fit and that is what is important."
Newcomer Ars¨ne Kouassi, debuting with the Etalons team, shared his positive outlook. "For the moment, things are going well. The group is doing well. We answered the coach's call. We hope things will go well so we can win the upcoming matches," he commented.
The Etalons will compete tomorrow, March 21, in El Jadida (Morocco) against Djibouti before traveling to Bissau to face the Djurtus. Burkina Faso (3rd with 5 points + 2) is positioned in Group A alongside Egypt (1st with 10 points + 9), Guinea Bissau (2nd with 6 points + 1), Sierra Leone (4th with 5 points - 1), Ethiopia (5th with 3 points - 3), and Djibouti (6th with 1 point - 8). The 2026 World Cup is scheduled to be held from June 11 to July 19 in the United States, Mexico, and Canada.
