2025 Global African Hydrogen Summit Set for September in Windhoek

Windhoek: The Ministry of Industries, Mines and Energy, in partnership with the Namibia Investment Promotion and Development Board (NIPDB), hosted a strategic conference on Monday in Windhoek to officially launch the 2025 Global African Hydrogen Summit (GAH2S).

According to Namibia Press Agency, the GAH2S is scheduled to take place from 9 to 11 September 2025 under the theme 'Ambition in Action: Fuelling Africa's Green Industrialisation'. The summit aims to connect stakeholders in the energy sector and catalyze transformative thought leadership across the continent.

At the launch, NIPDB Executive for Talent, Innovation and Productivity, Julia Muetudhana, highlighted that the inaugural edition of the summit, held last year, established Namibia as a global leader in green hydrogen and as a trusted platform for investment and dialogue around Africa's green industrial revolution. Muetudhana noted that over 1,400 delegates from 65 countries attended, facilitating 30 investment roundtables and hosting 75 global exhibitors. The event secured nine memoranda of understanding and investment partnerships, generating more than USD 3.5 million in direct economic impact.

Looking ahead to the 2025 summit, Muetudhana emphasized a more inclusive and ambitious approach, with deliberate efforts to engage youth, local SMEs, academic institutions, community stakeholders, and continental partners. She mentioned plans to expand the Innovation Zone, enhance support for Namibian and African exhibitors, and strengthen regional cooperation platforms.
