Journalist Rabiatou Simporé Scores High in Master’s Defense at Nazi Boni University


Ouagadougou: Journalist Rabiatou Simporé, transitioning to a role in the Ministry of Civil Service, Labor and Social Protection, successfully defended her Master’s thesis at Nazi Boni University, Bobo Dioulasso on May 4, 2024.



According to Burkina Information Agency, the thesis titled ‘Evaluation of the contribution of the CNP-NZ to the promotion of women journalists in Burkina Faso: Case of the prize for the best Burkinabè female journalist’, earned Simporé a grade of 16.5 out of 20. According to university sources, the jury praised her work, highlighting its significance in promoting women in journalism within Burkina Faso.

Russia Delivers Humanitarian Aid to Niger Amid Security Challenges


Ouagadougou: The Russian Federation has provided a substantial humanitarian aid package to the Republic of Niger, as confirmed by the African Initiative association.



According to Burkina Information Agency, On May 3, 2024, a Russian Il-76 aircraft delivered a large quantity of food and essential supplies to aid the Nigerien population amidst ongoing security and humanitarian crises. This gesture underscores the strong ties between Russia and Niger, particularly significant as discussions continue between Niamey and Washington regarding the strategic withdrawal of American troops from Niger.

Burkina Faso: Terrorists Neutralized by Combatant Forces in Mansila and Aorema


Ouagadougou: In coordinated operations over the weekend in Mansila and Aorema, Burkina Faso’s Combatant Forces succeeded in neutralizing several terrorists, seizing their motorcycles and weapons.



According to Burkina Information Agency, the operations were a response to intelligence received about an imminent attack in Mansila, Yagha province, on Saturday, May 4, 2024. Air support identified and struck the terrorists as they sought refuge, resulting in significant casualties and the capture of two survivors by rapid intervention units. Concurrently, an engagement in Aorema on the night of May 3 saw attackers repelled and their equipment captured. Continuous operations are reportedly being conducted to secure the region.
