Burkina Faso Launches Citizen Monitoring Coalition to Support President Traoré’s Transition

OUAGADOUGOU – Burkina Faso has witnessed the creation of the National Coalition for Faso (CNPF), a new citizen monitoring coalition aimed at supporting President Ibrahim Traoré’s leadership and the ongoing political transition in the country.

According to Burkina Information Agency, to spokesperson Assane Bationo. The coalition, formed by various leaders from civil society organizations (CSOs), as well as figures from the economic, political, customary, and religious sectors, is committed to unifying support around the country’s transition and backing President Ibrahim Traoré’s political project.

Bationo, speaking at a press conference in Ouagadougou, explained that the coalition’s creation was motivated by a desire to support President Traoré’s considerable efforts and sacrifices for the nation. The CNPF aims to conduct a participatory and inclusive assessment of the first year of the political transition under Captain Ibrahim Traoré’s presidency, propose action plans to the transitional authorities, and engage in international lobbying to aid the political transition.

Additionally, the coalition seeks to support all fighting forces, including the Defense and Security Forces and the Volunteers for the Defense of the Fatherland, in their efforts to reclaim the national territory. It also intends to contribute to the development of a new social contract and a republican, progressive pact supported by a new type of political leadership.

The CNPF’s first major initiative will be organizing a Citizen Forum for the Nation in the coming days. Bationo described this forum as a crucial gathering for Burkinabè citizens to unite and support the nation during its most challenging crisis in history.

Bationo invited all Burkinabè to join the inclusive coalition and contribute their ideas and energy to build a more resilient, united, and prosperous Burkina Faso. The formation of the CNPF and its upcoming Citizen Forum represent significant steps toward fostering national unity and supporting the country’s political transition under President Traoré’s leadership.
