Warrant of arrest issued for a man suspected of killing his girlfriend

Police in Empangeni are seeking assistance of community members in locating Thomas Vusi Chavango (Shabangu) who is suspected to be the person behind the murder of Mbali Mbuyazi who was his girlfriend.

Shabangu was the last person to be seen with Mbali in Matshana Reserve outside Empangeni Town. On 26 November 2022, the suspect allegedly took Mbali, who was 40 years old at the time, from her place of residence and that was the last time she was seen alive by her family. After an intensive search, Mbali’s body was found buried in a farm around Matshana Reserve on 23 December 2022.

Shabangu’s warrant of arrest was issued by the Empangeni Magistrate’s Court on 13 June 2023 and anyone who may have information about the whereabouts of the suspect is urged to contact the Investigating Officer, Sergeant Sikhumbuzo Mabaso on 078 ?507 2182/ 082 ?227 2058 and 035 ?907 1940 or alternatively contact the toll free crime stop number ?08600 10111.????
