Aimé Mouorissing Kambiré Assumes Role as New Director of Burkina Information Agency, Pledges to Enhance Quality Information

Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso – Aimé Mouorissing Kambiré, the newly appointed director of the Burkina Information Agency (AIB), took office this Thursday, October 26, 2023. Kambiré vowed to build upon the achievements of the national agency and introduce new initiatives.

According to a new release by the Burkina Information Agency, Kambiré expressed a commitment to meet the demand for quality information from the Burkinabè population.

Mr. Kambiré was officially installed as the director in the AIB newsroom by the Secretary General of Editions Sidwaya, Noufo Enok Kindo. He replaces outgoing director Alban Kini. During the ceremony, Kambiré thanked the senior authorities of Editions Sidwaya for his appointment, specifically mentioning General Director Assétou Badoh/Guiré. He indicated his intent to operate in accordance with the objectives laid out by Editions Sidwaya while also considering the specific context.

Noufo Enok Kindo, the Secretary General of Editions Sidwaya, offered advice to the incoming director, urging him to manage his team effectively despite challenges. “Be close to them, listen to them, encourage them, give directions to enable the work to be carried out,” said Kindo. He also informed Kambiré that he is expected to present a 2024 activity program for AIB and prepare a retrospective for 2023, among other tasks.

Alban Kini, the outgoing director, expressed gratitude towards the General Director of Editions Sidwaya and other stakeholders for the support received during his 18-month tenure. Kini noted that his administration succeeded in increasing the quarterly fuel allocation for AIB reporting and initiated contracts with AIB correspondents in the provinces, providing them freelance work opportunities since 2022.

During the installation ceremony, Paul Drabo, an AIB correspondent from Sourou, presented a farewell gift to Kini on behalf of all AIB correspondents. Aimé Mouorissing Kambiré was officially appointed the head of the Burkina Information Agency by decree on October 12, 2023. Prior to this role, he served as the editor-in-chief of AIB.
