Mossel Bay Family Receives New Home from Community Police Forum

WESTERN CAPE – In a heartwarming gesture of community support, the Da Gamaskop Community Police Forum (CPF), along with local police, the Executive Mayor of Mossel Bay, and other stakeholders, came together for a house handover ceremony. The event marked a significant moment for the Lamani family, who tragically lost their home in a fire earlier this year in Joe Slovo, Mossel Bay.

According to South African Police Service, The Lamani family faced a devastating loss when their house burned down, leaving them without shelter and belongings. In response to this tragedy, the Da Gamaskop CPF stepped in and spearheaded efforts to rebuild the family’s home. They successfully mobilized various resources and garnered support from local businesses to not only reconstruct the house but also refurbish it.

The refurbished house was officially handed over to the Lamani family as part of the 16 Days of Activism Campaign. This campaign is dedicated to raising awareness and combating gender-based violence and other social issues. The handover ceremony was attended by Garden Route District Commissioner, Major General Norman Modishana, who joined in celebrating the collaborative effort that brought hope and relief to the Lamani family.

This initiative highlights the power of community collaboration and the significant impact it can have in supporting those facing hardships. The gesture by Da Gamaskop CPF and all involved parties reflects a strong sense of solidarity and compassion within the Mossel Bay community.
