Gourcy – As part of the implementation of the Community Project for the Recovery and Stabilization of the Sahel (PCRSS), 150 young people from the Northern Region of Burkina Faso received training in setting up business plans and seeking financing from June 4 to 8, 2024.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the participants included 51 girls and 99 boys from the communes of Arbollé, Barga, Gourcy, Namissiguima, Ouahigouya, Ouindigui, Titao, Thiou, and Yako. The training, initiated by the Association Monde Rural in partnership with the PCRSS, took place in Gourcy, the capital of Zondoma province. National Coordinator of the AMR, Amadou Wangré, who chaired the closing ceremony, stated that the objective of the activity was to strengthen the capacities of young people on entrepreneurship and self-employment. “It’s an objective achieved,” he said, based on the results presented at the closing ceremony.

“During the five days, we discussed with young people, among other things, the concept of business, good practices in entrepreneurship, the qualities of a good entrepreneur, strategies for seeking financing,” said Aristide Kouraogo, one of the trainers. “We also helped them to develop their business ideas further into a business plan which will subsequently be translated into a salable document,” he added.

“I am a weaver, and I can tell you that after this training, I realized that I was working in total disorder, but now I know how to reorganize my work to get the most out of it,” said Safieta Ouédraogo, a beneficiary of the training. “I didn’t know that we could do this without raising significant resources. But with the knowledge received, I will start doing something once I return home,” said Abdoul Fatao Sogoba from the commune of Titao.

Speaking on behalf of her comrades, Mariam Sawadogo thanked the initiators of this training before pleading for their support in the implementation of the business plans they will develop. Each participant received a certificate of participation from the organizers. This training was made possible thanks to the PCRSS, which aims to contribute to the recovery and development of populations affected by the security crisis in three regions of Burkina Faso.
