Balochistan: At least 13 passengers, including women and children, lost their lives, and 33 others were injured in two separate road accidents in Pakistan's southwest Balochistan province, according to police and rescue officials.
According to Namibia Press Agency, one of the accidents occurred in the Lasbela district, where a passenger coach collided with a truck, resulting in the deaths of six people and serious injuries to 17 others. Senior Superintendent of Police of the district, Atif Amir, provided this information to the media.
In a separate incident, the non-government rescue organization Edhi Foundation reported that seven passengers died and 16 others sustained injuries when another coach crashed in the Hub district. The accident led to a traffic jam on the national highway, which was later cleared following rescue operations.
The injured individuals from both accidents were transported to nearby hospitals, with several reported to be in critical condition. Road accidents in Pakistan have become a significant concern, with a notable increase in frequency and severity over recent years. Reckless driving, poor road conditions, and inadequate vehicle maintenance are identified as primary causes contributing to the high accident rate.
