DORI: The 64th anniversary of Burkina Faso’s accession to national and international sovereignty was commemorated in Dori with a ceremony recognizing 109 citizens for their human and professional accomplishments. The event underscored the resilience of the Sahel region amidst ongoing challenges.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the Governor of the Sahel region, Lieutenant Colonel Fabien Rodolphe Sorgho, paid homage to the Defense and Security Forces (FDS), the Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland (VDP), and civilians who were killed or injured during 2024. Despite terrorist attacks, the region has demonstrated resilience, determination, and a commitment to overcoming adversity.
Lieutenant Colonel Sorgho highlighted advancements made in 2024, notably in health care, education, infrastructure, administrative reach, and supply to remote areas. He announced that 2025 would focus on enhancing socio-economic sectors, civil-military collaboration, food security, and the reopening of National Road No.
3 (RN3).
During the celebration, citizens were honored across various categories, receiving distinctions such as the Order of the Stallion, the Burkinabe Order of Merit, specific orders, and the Medal of Honor of Communities. The awards included two individuals elevated to officers of the Order of the Stallion, 17 as knights of the Order of the Stallion, 28 as knights of the Burkinabe Order of Merit, and 33 honored in specific orders and with local medals of honor.
The honorees expressed their gratitude to the nation and their superiors for the recognition and pledged to continue contributing to the advancement of Burkina Faso.
