WINDHOEK: A Zimbabwean national was arrested by members of the Namibian Police Force (NamPol)’s Serious Crime Unit yesterday in connection with the alleged murder of a 30-year-old Namibian citizen.
Khomas Regional Commanding Officer, Commissioner Festus Shilongo told Nampa today that the foreign national was arrested after he was found in illegal possession of some personal items belonging to the deceased.
The suspected killer was found in possession of a cellphone and laptop bag belonging to the deceased person, who lived alone in the Wanaheda residential area in Katutura and was allegedly strangled to death.
His decomposed body was discovered by neighbours last Monday.
According to Shilongo, the deceased and the suspect knew each other well and were said to be friends before the alleged killing.
A motor vehicle, a laptop and some other valuable personal items which were allegedly stolen from the man’s house after his death are yet to be found.
