Zambo, Ioba - In a significant move towards bolstering peace in the region, the commune of Zambo in the Ioba province has successfully mobilized a total of 738,785 FCFA, along with food supplies, to support the national peace initiative. This fund, combined with in-kind donations including bags of corn and rice, was raised through a collaborative effort led by the prefect, Tasséré Badini, who is also the president of the special communal delegation (PDS) of Zambo.
According to Burkina Information Agency, Tasséré Badini presented the receipt for the payment of these funds to the presidents of the village development committees (CVD) of the 23 villages within the commune. The event, held last Thursday, marked a pivotal moment in the communal contributions towards the patriotic support fund dedicated to combating the ongoing security challenges in Burkina Faso.
The fundraising initiative was a result of a conclave involving the Zambo PDS and the CVD presidents, where the village chiefs also played a crucial role in garnering wider participation from the local population. The financial and material contributions were directed to the patriotic support fund's account for Dissihn.
In his address, Mr. Badini expressed satisfaction with the community's response and acknowledged the importance of local contributions to national security efforts. He highlighted the relatively peaceful state of the commune but noted that migration due to insecurity in other localities remains a concern. The gesture of presenting the payment receipt not only underscored the transparency of the initiative but also reinforced the communal commitment to supporting the government's anti-terrorism measures.
Village chief of Djikologo also lauded the PDS for the transparent handling of the funds, emphasizing the importance of clear communication in such initiatives. Each CVD president received a photocopy of the receipt, ensuring that all contributors are well-informed about the deployment of their donations.
