MUTJIKU: A woman died on the spot after she was hit by a vehicle while carrying her baby on her back at the Mutjiku village, situated 220km east of Rundu on the road between Divundu and Kongola on the Trans-Caprivi highway last Friday evening.
Kavango Regional Namibian Police Force (NamPol) Crime Investigations’ Coordinator, Deputy Commissioner Willie Bampton told Nampa on Wednesday that the baby boy survived the incident.
Deputy Commissioner said the driver fled the scene, and the vehicle could also not be identified.
The deceased has been named as 25-year-old Arina Dribi, a resident of the Mutjiku village.
Her baby’s name and age could not be established.
The deceased’s next of kin have already been informed, and police have opened a case of culpable homicide.
