2 (GOBABIS) – The much-anticipated regional elective conference of the Swapo Party in the Omaheke Region, which was due yesterday, was once again postponed for the umpteenth time.
The hype that went into the preparation of the conference all came to nothing, as regional leaders failed once again to finalise logistics and put their respective districts in order before the anticipated regional conference.
A new date of 28 July has been set for the regional conference in Gobabis.
The conference, which had to be called off twice before due to alleged irregularities and unconstitutionalities with regard to braches congresses held, is expected to elect a new regional executive committee, including a full-time regional coordinator.
The elective conference was initially scheduled for 30 June 2012 in Gobabis, but was postponed to 21 July after it emerged that some branches in the region delegated non-Swapo members to some of the district congresses.
