Woman injured in Middleboro Manor fire Sunday night

A 68-year-old woman was seriously injured Sunday night during a house fire south of Elsmere, officials said.

New Castle County paramedics responded to the 400 Block of Mary Ann Drive, in the Middleboro Manor neighborhood, for a house fire with injuries reported about 9:25 p.m.

Arriving paramedics treated the resident for smoke inhalation, said Sgt. Abigail Haas, a spokeswoman for county paramedics. The woman had been inside her home when fire began.

The woman was taken to Christiana Hospital in serious condition, Haas said.

The fire, which was brought under control by several fire companies, is being investigated by the State Fire Marshal’s Office.
