OTJIWARONGO: A 30-year-old woman was arrested here with 12 parcels of dagga with a street value of over N.dollars 12 000 on Monday evening.
The Otjozondjupa Namibian Police Force (NamPol)’s Commander, Commissioner Joseph Anghuwo told Nampa on Tuesday that the woman was travelling from Windhoek to the northern parts of the country with a bag full of dagga.
“We got a tip-off from members of the public that this woman had dagga in her bag. We ambushed the vehicle she was travelling in, and before it entered the Otjiwarongo Central area, we impounded it with the parcels,” he explained.
The police were correctly informed about the colour of the bag, what was in it and its owner. Therefore, it was easy for them to arrest the woman.
She is expected to appear in the Otjiwarongo Magistrate’s Court today.
Commissioner Anghuwo then warned drug dealers hoping to make use of Otjiwarongo as a gateway to think hard again.
“I am warning them. For your information, community members in the Otjozondjupa Region have started to collaborate with us, so don’t make a mistake to come here with your drugs. You will be reported immediately,” he stressed.
