KEETMANSHOOP: A 49-year-old Windhoek resident died after the vehicle she was travelling in overturned some 22 kilometres outside Keetmanshoop in the Karas Region on Friday.

Sylvia Kauraisa died upon arrival at the Windhoek Central Hospital.

She had been travelling to Keetmanshoop with four other people to attend a funeral here when the driver of the vehicle, who was only identified as 51-year-old M Kapitako, allegedly lost control of the vehicle, causing it to overturn.

Kapitako, the 48-year-old Hilda Kauraisa and Tembo Mumbela Issa, 33, all sustained injuries in the accident.

Although the police could not specify their injuries, they indicate that the people were all in a stable condition.

Another accident victim who was only identified as ‘Contancia’ escaped without injuries.

The Namibian Police Force (NamPol)’s Crime Investigations’ Co-ordinator for the Karas Region, Deputy Commissioner Rudolf Isaak told Nampa on Monday that Issa, a citizen of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), lost a finger on his left hand in the accident.
