WINDHOEK: Windhoek resident Jeffrey Barman who allegedly killed his girlfriend at their daughter’s birthday party in Windhoek during November last year, is scheduled to make his second appearance in the Katutura Magistrate’s Court tomorrow.
Barman allegedly killed his girlfriend Melanie Booysen, 20, by cutting her throat with a broken glass during a party held for their four-year-old daughter in the Golgotha residential area on 10 November 2012.
He then attempted to flee the scene, but fractured a leg when he jumped from a roof.
The 21-year-old Barman was arrested around 17h00 on the day of the alleged crime, and appeared on 13 November before Windhoek Magistrate Cosmos Endjala on a charge of murder.
His case was then remanded until 14 February this year in order to allow him apply to the Justice Ministry’s Directorate of Legal Aid for a State-sponsored defence lawyer to defend him in future court proceedings and the trial proper.
