WINDHOEK: A Congolese man and a Namibian woman were arrested by the Namibian Police (NamPol)’s Drug Law-Enforcement Unit after they were allegedly found in possession of cocaine over the weekend.
Nampol Deputy Commissioner Silvanus Nghishidimbwa said at a media briefing in the capital on Sunday that the two were found with 26 bullets of cocaine and 10 units of crack cocaine at a guesthouse in Klein Windhoek on Saturday morning.
The two will appear in court tomorrow, Monday, 22 October.
In another incident, a jackpot machine and recharge vouchers valued at N.dollars 1800.00 were allegedly stolen from a bar called the Check-Point Entertainment Park in Windhoek’s Goreangab Dam area by six male persons who were armed with pistols on Thursday, 18 October between 22:00 and 00:00.
The six men also shot and wounded one of the occupants in that bar after the occupant did not cooperate with them.
The wounded occupant is still alive.
Nghishidimbwa further stated that 58-year-old William Soldaat died at around 11:45 last Thursday after the truck he was driving hit against a rail and fell into a ditch on the Brakwater road.
Erastus Nghidinwa, 42, also died last Friday at around 01:00 after he shot himself in the head with a pistol in the Havana informal settlement, but there was no suicide note left.
The Deputy Commissioner also informed the media that a cyclist identified as Paulus Nghipandulwa died on the scene last night (Saturday, 20 October) at around 19:45 on the Dobra turn-off after he was bumped by a vehicle.
The vehicle involved drove away, he added, calling on anyone with information about the vehicle to alert the police.
The cyclist lived around that area.
