Damaging winds, gusting up to 90km/h, are forecast to lash the Illawarra and South Coast on Saturday morning.
The Bureau of Meteorology issued a severe weather warning on Friday afternoon, as vigorous westerly winds crossed the state.
Damaging winds, averaging 60 to 70 km/h with peak gusts in excess of 90 km/h, are possible in the Illawarra and South Coast on Saturday, the bureau said.
The winds are expected to develop late in the morning and persist through the afternoon.
The wild weather will follow what has been a wet Friday across the Illawarra and South Coast.
Bellambi has recorded 17.6mm of rain between 9am and 4pm, while 13.2mm has fallen during the same period at Albion Park.
Further south, Nowra has registered 15.6mm and 21mm has been tipped out of the rain gauge at Point Perpendicular.
On the waters, a gale wind warning has been issued for the Illawarra and Batemans coasts on Saturday.
