WINDHOEK: Namibia’s visually-impaired runner Ananias Shikongo failed to make it to the final of the 2012 London Paralympic Games Men’s T11 200m final on Tuesday after ending third in Heat 3.
Shikongo’s time of 23.20 seconds was not fast enough for a place in the final, set to take place tonight at 21h15 local time.
Heat 3 was won by Angola’s Jose Sayovo Armando in 22.84 seconds, followed by Lucas Prado from Brazil in 22.92.
Shikongo was seen after the race clutching his thigh, with his guide Even Tjiviju trying to assist.
The final will be run by three Brazilians and one Angolan runner.
Meanwhile, Shikongo is scheduled to run again on Thursday in Round 1 of the T11 400m race at 22h37 local time, and again on Friday in the T11 100m.
