NNA – UNIFIL Force Commander, Major General Luciano Portolano, on Friday visited the Governor of South Lebanon, Mansour Daou, with talks between the pair reportedly touching on the security situation in South Lebanon.
In the wake of the meeting, Portolano said that his visit to Mnasour had been an occasion to discuss UNIFIL activities and to engage in the continued cooperation between UNIFIL and different Lebanese leaderships.
Responding to a question about the late Spanish soldier who died under Israeli shelling back in January, Portolano said that investigations remained underway to unveil the exact circumstances that have led to this ill-fated incident.
As for any likely escalation at the Lebanese borders with occupied Palestine, Portolano confirmed relentless efforts on the behalf of UNIFIL to preserve a state of peace and tranquillity in said region.
