RUNDU: The Namibian Police Force (NamPol) in the Kavango Region reported two rape cases over the weekend.
In the first incident, the police are looking for a suspect who allegedly sexually assaulted a 25-year-old woman at the Mushashani village, situated some 150 kilometres (km) west of Rundu last Thursday.
It is alleged that the unknown suspect grabbed the victim by the neck, and sexually assaulted her.
NamPol’s Crime Investigations’ Co-ordinator for the Kavango Region, Deputy Commissioner Willie Bampton said on Monday that the unknown suspect is yet to be arrested by the police.
In an unrelated incident, the police on Sunday arrested a 30-year-old man after he allegedly sexually assaulted a woman at the Kahenge village, situated some 120km west of Rundu on Saturday.
The incident occurred at around 20h00 on Saturday at the Nyambugu shebeen, which is situated in the Kahenge area.
The suspect is expected to appear in the Rundu Magistrate’s Court on a charge of rape on Tuesday.
