MILE: The Namibian Police Force (NamPol) at Rundu have arrested two men after they allegedly raped a 24-year-old man at the Mile 20 village on Tuesday.
The village is situated south of Rundu.
According to a police crime report issued to Nampa on Wednesday, the suspects allegedly sent the victim to buy them alcohol and cigarettes with the promise that they would give him a portable radio in return.
Upon the victim’s return, the suspects allegedly took him to their house and sexually assaulted him.
The suspects, both aged 20, were arrested on Tuesday and are expected to appear in the Rundu Magistrate’s Court on Thursday.
In an unrelated incident, an 84-year-old woman died on the spot after she was hit by a vehicle in the Sikanduko area on the outskirts of Rundu on Tuesday afternoon.
The police report stated that a white Kia sedan vehicle, with a personalised registration number, hit Karolina Mutango Ndumba while she was crossing the road.
Ndumba, a resident of Sikanduko, died instantly.
The deceased’s next of kin have been informed of her death and a case of culpable homicide has been opened by the police.
