KEETMANSHOOP: Local football giants Try Again defeated Premier League club Orlando Pirates by 5-4 on penalties in a friendly match played here on Saturday.
The visitors from the capital were invited to play at the launch of the national sports’ talent identification programme in Keetmanshoop.
First Division campaigners Try Again put up a great performance on the pitch that earned them a penalty in the second half of the match.
Brendon Tseib scored from the spot, bringing great joy to the team’s supporters who never stopped cheering.
The tables turned after Mabasa Kufahakitizwi of Pirates with jersey number 22, the same number as Tseib, scored in the last minute of the second half before the whistle went.
The southern players, however, were determined to win this friendly game as they also had home advantage.
Two players from Pirates failed to score their penalty kicks, giving a chance to Try Again to score four out of their five chances.
Try Again coach Quinton Visagie was satisfied with his team’s display.
“The performance was really good, I am proud of them,” he told Nampa after the match.
