JOHANNESBURG– Three children have been killed when a wall of a disused building collapsed in downtown Johannesburg Monday.
The victims’ families and eyewitnesses apparently pulled the bodies from the rubble. The children were playing in a nearby street when the wall collapsed.
It is believed the abandoned structure accommodates homeless families.
The tragedy has again seen Johannesburg Mayor Herman Mashaba urging people to refrain from using derelict buildings as temporary accommodation.
Those who have been using the building as accommodation will be temporarily moved to alternative accommodation.
