The Special Representative of the Secretary-General and Head of the United Nations Office for West Africa and the Sahel (UNOWAS), Mohamed Ibn Chambas, expresses his indignation and condemns the terrorist act against a bus in the province of Sourou, north of Burkina Faso. Fourteen people were reportedly killed and nineteen others injured when a bus carrying students carrying an improvised explosive device passed through on the morning of Saturday, January 4.
He offers his sincere condolences and expresses his deep sympathy to the families of the victims as well as to the Government and the people of Burkina Faso.
The United Nations supports the people of Burkina Faso in their quest for peace and development.
