NNA – UNIFIL Official Spokesman Andrea Tenenti told the National News Agency on Saturday that the peacekeeping forces are present south of the Litani River and the Blue Line upon the request of Lebanon in accordance with UN resolution 1701, and no changes have been decided to include the country’s eastern border.
“We are constantly following up on regional developments, and there is contact with the LAF and concerned sides to keep the situation stable in the area where the UNIFIL operates,” said Tenenti, confirming that all concerned parties were committed to stop the hostilities and keep the situation under control far from any escalations.
Touching on maritime breaches of the Israeli navy, the Spokesman said that the security situation was discussed during the tripartite meetings and it was something that all sides must agree upon.
“The mission of the UNIFIL naval forces is to monitor and halt the entrance of arms through the sea. As for the helicopter line present at sea…it is Israeli and not acknowledged by the UN.”
