Telecom Namibia turning 20 years old next month

WINDHOEK: Telecom Namibia will turn 20 years come 1 August 2012 The company was founded on 1 August 1992.

While launching the 20th anniversary festivity program, the company’s Managing Director Frans Ndoroma could not hide his happiness as he stated: “Telecom Namibia’s perseverance during challenging phases of transformation, growth, and the success made, have been phenomenal.”

“Today in 2012, we can proudly state that Telecom Namibia’s continuous process of innovation has helped shape the development of an entire industry in Namibia, from analogue to digital, wireline to fixed, wireless to mobile, circuit switch to IP, telegraphy to multimedia and from copper to fibre optic.” he boasted.
Meeting the increased demand for bandwidth and quality, migration of old networks and products, improving customer experience and services, and new ways of working with them through improved processes, amongst others, will be the focus during Telecom Namibia’s year-long festivities. The theme of celebrating 20 years anniversary is ‘Celebrating 20 years of transformation, growth and success.’

Ndoroma also unveiled the company’s 20th anniversary logo that features a panoramic view of the Telecom Namibia logo in a blue-coloured circle.

He also launched Telecom Namibia set of postage stamps developed in partnership with Namibia Post. Meanwhile, Telecom Namibia Board Members Roger Gertze reaffirmed that the greatness of the company, people need to understand that greatness is never given, it must be earned.

“Today we are humbled by the task before us and grateful for the trust Namibians have bestowed on Telecom Namibia as the country’s largest and only integrated Information Communication and technology service provider,” he said.
Of course there is still work to be done and the company would do it, he stated.
Among the activities lined up for the celebration, include a Gala Dinner on 2 december 2012 characterised by a cake cutting by Minister of Information and Communication Technology Joel Kaapanda.

Telecom Namibia will also share with the public some of the most memorable milestones in the journey of transformation, growth and success. Telecom namibia also plans to stage an Open Day at the Telecom Namibia Sports Grounds in Pioneers Park on 4 August 2012.
