WINDHOEK: Team Namibia will be represent Namibia at the world-renowned Tendence Trade Fair in Frankfurt, Germany from 20 to 28 August.
Team Namibia markets Namibian products and services nationally and internationally under one generic brand, and aims to create a preference for Namibian products and services globally.
It also develops the Namibian economy by growing a sustainable manufacturing, industrial and business sector and by garnering support for local products before any other purchase.
The Ministry of Trade and Industry sponsored Team Namibia’s attendance at the annual fair, together with other Namibian-based organisations.
Team Namibia’s General Manager Lizette Foot said in a statement issued here on Wednesday that Team Namibia will present the topic “Business Destination Namibia” at a symposium called ‘Premium Quality – Made in Africa, Modern Fashion Made for the Western Market’ on 25 August.
Foot said the symposium is part of the Africa Chic programme held in co-operation with Messe Frankfurt, Tendence, Trade & Fairs Consulting and Origin Africa.
She added that the programme will be promoted through the Messe Frankfurt press department to international journalist and buyers, hence providing a fantastic opportunity for Team Namibia to raise awareness of Namibian products and services.
Chief Trade Promotion Officer in the Ministry of Trade and Industry and Board Member of Team Namibia, Karape Katjivive, was quoted as saying in the statement that the Tendence Trade Fair plays an integral part on the ministry’s calendar to attract international investors to Namibia and for local businesses to be exposed to exhibitions of the highest standards in the world.
“We are delighted to share this unprecedented opportunity with Team Namibia to further its mandate of creating a preference for Namibian products and services locally and abroad,” said Katjivive.
Team Namibia’s presentation will include a show-reel showcasing interviews and case studies from key Namibian manufacturers and Team Namibia members, including Namib Mills Investments (NMI) Group chief executive officer Koos Ferreira; Namibia Breweries Limited Manager for Corporate Affairs Gideon Shilongo; and a wider range of Namibian crafters.
The show-reel will be available for viewing via the Team Namibia website after the Tendence Trade Fair.
Team Namibia members who will exhibit at the Africa Chic include among others, Casa Anin, a company that produces Namibian linen and home textiles.
