AGI SIGNS PARTNERSHIP AGREEMENT WITH IVORIAN NEWS AGENCY AIP

The agreement defines the desire of both AIP and Agi, key players in the global information arena, to cooperate in the editorial production, both in primary information production and integrated communication activities, as well as in joint professional training activities and in event organization.

Mrs Oumou Barry Sana, AIP’s Central Director, highlighted that “the signature of this Memorandum of Understanding with Agi is part of our strategy of communication and development of professional ties among news agencies, which includes the exchange of different types of news, multimedia contents and professional experiences. Moreover, this agreement will lead to a growing circulation of news about Ivory Coast, notably in Italy, in order to increase the knowledge of our country, which is today the crossroads of West Africa in the economic, cultural and social field. AIP’s news are distributed to our partners and to all Ivorian outlets. This is the reason of their relevance in the media landscape”.

“This agreement further increases Agi’s presence in Africa, already strong with 10 news correspondents in the continent’s key areas and with the agreements with news agencies and media outlets in Algeria, Angola, Egypt, Ghana, Libya, Morocco, Mozambique, Nigeria, South Africa and Tunisia” declared Agi’s CEO Mr Gianni Di Giovanni. “This engagement reflects Africa’s key role in global growth. With reference to the energy sector, for example, IEA’s World Energy Outlook 2014 highlights that 30% of oil & gas discoveries in the last years were in Sub-Saharan Africa and that the African continent will outstrip Russia by 2040, becoming the first global gas supplier. We will only be able to seize the opportunities offered by this rapidly evolving scenario if we enhance our mutual knowledge, and news agencies play a fundamental role in the divulgation of a reliable, timely and complete information”.
