The M7 Motorway has been closed to south-bound traffic at Cecil Hills in Sydney’s west after a truck overturned early on Monday morning.
The Transport Management Centre (TMC) has warned drivers in the area to expect significant delays throughout the morning peak, after the B-double truck crashed and rolled on the motorway, south of the Elizabeth Drive off-ramp, just after 4am.
“The truck has overturned and as a result there is no forecast of when south-bound lanes will reopen,” a TMC spokesman said.
“All emergency services and incident response crews are on scene.
“Motorists are advised to allow additional travel time.”
It is understood the male truck driver was conscious after the accident and was freed from the wreckage a short time after the crash.
South-bound traffic is being diverted along Elizabeth Drive and Cowpasture Road to rejoin the M7. Traffic was reported to be heavy around the crash site at 7am.
