WINDHEOK: A man was arrested by members of the Namibian Police Force (NamPol) on Monday morning after he was found in possession of two carcasses of suspected stolen game meat.

The two carcasses of meat was hidden in a corrugated iron dwelling on the back of a house at the corner of Sukkot and Troas Streets in Damara location in Katutura by the police after a tip-off by members of the public.

The two carcasses of meat were confiscated by the police and the arrested man is now helping the police to complete their investigations in connection with the matter. The suspect was arrested after he could not provide proper documentation for selling meat or meat products in Windhoek.

Speaking to Nampa on Monday morning at the house, Katutura Police Station Commander, Chief Inspector Ismael Basson highly applauded the members of the public for providing the information to the police that led to the arrest of the suspect and confiscation of the meat. Police investigations continue, said Basson.

The carcasses were hidden in a corrugated iron dwelling at the back of a house on the corner of Sukkot and Troas Streets in Katutura’s Dolam residential area. Police confiscated the two carcasses and arrested the man on the spot Monday morning.

The suspect is now said to be helping the police to complete their investigations in the matter, and more people could be arrested still. He is expected to appear in the Katutura Magistrate’s Court later this week.

Speaking to Nampa at the scene shortly after the arrest, Katutura Police Station Commander Chief Inspector Ismael Basson applauded the members of the public for providing the information that led to the arrest of the suspect as well as the confiscation of the meat.

“Police investigations into this matter will continue,” said Basson.
