Statement regarding Greece’s contribution to the restoration of basic services and the orderly return of internally displaced persons in areas liberated from Daesh

Greece actively supports the stabilization of Middle East countries and the effort to address the devastating effects brought about by the activity of Daesh terrorist organization.

At the Ministerial meeting of the Global Coalition to Defeat Daesh, which took place in Rome last June, Minister of Foreign Affairs Nikos Dendias made the commitment to fund programs for the rehabilitation of the victims of the aforesaid terrorist organization.

As part of implementing this commitment, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will contribute the sum of EUR 50,000 to the Funding Facility for Stabilization of the United Nations Development Program.

The Funding Facility aims to restore basic services and provide conditions for the orderly return of internally displaced persons in areas of Iraq liberated from Daesh.

It is noted that Greece becomes the 29th country to contribute to this funding tool.
