Statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on the 22nd anniversary of the passing of Giannos Kranidiotis (14.09.2021)

Today marks 22 years since the untimely loss of Giannos Kranidiotis.

Giannos Kranidiotis was a great diplomat and a visionary politician, a symbol of the shared course of Greek and Cypriot Hellenism.

He was a pioneer of European integration and a strong advocate of the Enlargement and Deepening of the EU, ideals and principles which continue to guide Greek Foreign Policy.

Today, 22 years after his death, the vision of Giannos Kranidiotis continues to inspire both Greece and Cyprus in their efforts for a just and viable solution to the Cyprus issue and for safeguarding Hellenism’s interests in the face of ongoing challenges.
