JOHANNESBURG, July 2 The South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) and Television Mozambique (TVM) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) which will see the two broadcasters working together.
The two public broadcasters have agreed to share content and resources. The SABC has assisted TVM in the past decade with election broadcasts and more recently in coverage of the All Africa Games which neighbouring Mozambique hosted.
SABC acting Chief Executive Officer Tian Olivier said here Tuesday the agreement was currently being formalised.
“We have explored ways where we could assist each other with the broadcast of elections (and in) training our staff and management. We are assisting each other with the transition to digital television broadcasting which is happening for the countries and also the exchange of production of content and mutual interest.”
Television Mozambique’s James Caume said TVM appreciated that SABC had worked with some of its staff even before the Memorandum of Understanding.
“In this process SABC is well ahead but kindly understood that it cannot go alone and to prove that, even before the signing of this MOU it welcomed a team of engineers and senior journalists from TVM,” he added.
