SA Cultural Observatory releases 2nd Economic Study on Creative Industries
The South African Cultural Observatory wishes to invite you to the release of its second economic study, The Economic Mapping of the Cultural and Creative Industries in South Africa 2020 scheduled to take place on Wednesday, 20 May 2020. Every two years, the Observatory undertakes a mapping study to understand the contribution of the cultural and creative industries to the country’s economy. The Observatory gathers and provides updated information on sector’s GDP contribution, growth, employment, transformation, and international trade.
The South African Cultural Observatory is a national research project of the Department of Sports, Arts and Culture (DSAC) established in 2015 to conduct economic research and provide reliable, policy and sector relevant information about the economic value of the Cultural and Creative Industries (CCIs). The Observatory undertakes this research guided by UNESCO Framework for Cultural Statistics that defines the cultural and creative industries to include the following cultural domains:
