WINDHOEK: Visually-impaired Namibian sprinter Ananias Shikongo qualified for the semi-finals of the Men’s T11 200m race of the 2012 London Paralympic Games when he ended third in Heat 3 of 5 on Monday evening.
The semi-finals will take place on Tuesday, and Shikongo and Guide Even Tjiviju are scheduled to run in Heat 3 of 3 at 13h18 local time.
Shikongo clocked the third-fastest qualification time of 23.02 seconds.
The fastest time was 22.96 seconds, and second-fastest was 22.99 seconds.
The finals will take place later this evening at 21h15 local time.
The two Namibians are the only ones from their team of six who will be in action on Tuesday.
On Wednesday, powerlifter Ruben Soroseb will be in action in the 100kg category at 13h00, while Namibia’s 2012 Paralympic Games’ 100m silver medalist Johanna Benson will run in the F37 women’s 200m race at 11h49.
