WINDHOEK: Russian company Sistema has invested approximately N.dollars 26,4 million (US.dollars 3 million) to construct a lodge some 70 kilometres north of Windhoek.
Russian Deputy Minister of National Resources and Environment Igor Maydanov announced this yesterday when he paid a courtesy call on Minister of Trade and Industry, Dr Hage Geingob at his office here.
Maydanov said the company plans to consider Namibia as a bridge to enter the Southern African Development Community (SADC) region, and the African continent in general.
It will be the first time that Sistema invests in Namibia and on the African continent.
Maydanov said the company will make sure that the envisaged project materialises, and will continue to explore more areas of investment in the country.
Sistema, a large Russian conglomerate with its headquarters in Moscow, operates a number of consumer service businesses in the areas of information technology (IT) and telecommunication, micro-electronics, insurance, banking, construction, retail and tourism.
