KEETMANSHOOP: The Rosh Pinah Academy School immerged the top school in the Annual Karas Regional Science and Mathematics Fair competition held in Keetmanshoop last Thursday and Friday.
They received a 100 per cent Gold medal and a projector valued at N.dollars 4 000 from Skorpion Zinc who sponsored the event at an amount of N.dollars 50 000.
Nyasha Marufu a Grade four learner at Rosh Pinah Academy won Best Junior Primary Project and Gareth from Grade seven at the same school won Best Senior Primary category.
Other categories are Best Junior Secondary won by Nelago Amutenya & Aina Kambunda from Oranjemund Private, Kelvine Amukwaya and Shaandre Finnies who took Best Senior Secondary category.
Both received floating trophies, figurines, gold medals and N.dollars 150 Walton vouchers to upgrade their project for the national science fair competition in September.
Best Potential Project for Junior Primary is won by Maria Nakampunda and Anissa Nyamhandu from Oranjemund Private while
Best Potential Project for Senior Primary taken by Nathan Nehoya and Lohmeier Nepembe also from Oranjemund Private School.
Aina Kauluma and Vanessa Werman also from Oranjemund Private School walk away with the Best Potential Project for Junior Secondary.
These best potential winners only received figurines as prizes.
Best Grade 12 Project went to Saalmon Isaacs and Lorenzo Van Zyl of Suiderlig Senior Secondary of which each received a laptop.
A total of 165 learners from 18 schools around Karas participated in the competition where they presented a 98 science projects to a panel of judges.
